WOODY CALLED Dr. Austin Woody has been called into service of the U. S. Navy and will report at Norfolk on or before June 30th as a lieu tenant, junior grade in the Navy. Woody is a graduate of Temple -Jniversity. He began his medical “profession in Tryon about three years ago. Dr. Woody is a mem ber of the Tryon Rotary club and an officer of the Episcopal church. ALMOST A DOZEN They had 71 Monday, 103 Tues day and 11 more today, making a total of 114 pupils present at the Community Bible school at the Tryon First Baptist church this morning. All children of the com munity are invited to attend. YALE MAN AT ROTARY George W. Comer will be in charge of the Tryon Rotary club program on Friday at 1 p. m., at Sunnydale. The guest speaker *Vll be Paul Doggett Karsten, Jr., j^aduate of Yale law school, and now a resident of' Tryon. His subject will be “How Industry Looks at War.” COMBIS—O’SHIELDS Mrs. Jessie Hix O’Shields' has announced the marriage of her daughter, Jessie, to Mr. Chris Combis of Charlotte. The cere mony was performed at York, S. C., on June 14th. Mr. and Mrs. Combis are making their home at Gulfport, Miss., where' Mr. Combis is an electrician with the Robert son Construction Co., at work on the government air base there. CURB REPORTER Did anyone take pictures of the United Nations Flags which decorated Trade street on Flag Day? The office of Civilian De fense wants a picture, in colors if possible, of these flags. If you have one please leave it with C. J. Lynch, Carroll Rogers or the Bulletin office.If you found a man on the street with a broken leg would you know how to give him first aid? It is getting more important for you to know because two Polk County doctors are al ready in the service and a third has been called. If we should have an air raid we would be poorly prepared. Few doctors and only a few men able to give first aid. If you want to keep us from being “too late with too little” join the next first *iid class for MEN.The Southern Rail way has just issued an attractive illustrated folder advertising the chief points of interest on the Southern System. Western North Carolina with a picture of of Ashe ville is the center of the Southern’s attractions which cover an area from New Orleans to New York and from St. Louis, Mo., to Flori da.Weather on Tuesday low 58, high 81, rain .05.
